Gold Leadership camp
Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example in your speech, your conduct, your love, faith, and purity. - 1 Tim 4:12
On Saturday the 20th of July, the entirety of gold REMAR stumbled into a Amberly on a cold winter's day.
This was the beginning of the Gold Leadership camp, and the first time that many of these people had met in about two years. A time where many new friendships were to be formed and old ones renewed.
The camp focused on life after school, which appeared as a stark reality to some and a welcome relief to others. We were challenged by the many leaders (including a black haired Matt Mooney), to look past the superficialities of life, beyond money and prestige and to look at what we were called to; in other words our vocation. This was hard because whilst we are all still young adulthood is creeping up behind us. This camp forced us to look behind our shoulders and face the facts; the time of Tonka trucks and Barbie dolls is rapidly being replaced by responsibilities and adulthood and frankly it's scary (for me at least). However vocation is an important thing and we were challenged to think about what part God and service would play in our lives once we finish school, a question that I'm sure many don't know the answer to yet.
This was an extremely hard camp, but an extremely worthwhile one. It gave closure to what has been a three-year journey, and on the last day I'm sure that it hadn't struck that many of the goodbyes were final. I'd like to once again thank all the fantastic leaders and everyone else who's journeyed along the way.
I wish everyone on the camp good luck in all they attempt this year and in the future.
